Bangladesh stuttered and stammered after a fabulous opening partnership between Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon. Both batted swiftly and struck spellbinding half-centuries. It seemed to be one-way traffic from there, but then Rashid Khan produced a memorable spell, picking up four wickets, and all of a sudden the equation became onerous for Bangladesh. Noor Ahmad kept things tight as well. In the end, Bangladesh had enough in the tank as Nurul Hasan and Rishad Hossain steadied the ship and played sensibly. The pacers erred in the last few overs, and both batters sealed the deal. One thing is for sure: we are in for a highly entertaining series, as the curtain raiser proved to be a hair-raising spectacle

Rashid Khan, Afghanistan Captain: I still feel like we could have finished better. In T20, you can't afford to lose momentum - once you lose it, it's hard to get it back. We threw away wickets too easily. Hopefully, we keep learning and improving because the main aim is to prepare for the World Cup. The batters should focus on playing their natural game - take your time, but under pressure shot selection (tends to get faulty). I also think we didn't bowl well in the first 10 overs. The more you bowl at the stumps, the better it is, because once you bowl outside, it gets easier to score. I feel as soon as we came back to hitting the stumps consistently and asking questions, we got back into the game

Jaker Ali, Bangladesh Captain: I am very pleased with the effort of the boys. I think we started really well, though the batting collapse is a concern - but cricket is a funny game. Yes, there are areas of improvement in both batting and bowling and we will talk about that. The way we started, the bowlers did a really good job, as they also did in the Asia Cup. I think we leaked some runs at the death. At the end of the day, winning and losing is what matters and this win has given us confidence. We look forward to winning the series

Bangladesh avoid a collapse and some timely hits from Nurul Hasan got them to the doorstep of victory. Credit to Afghanistan for not giving up and turning the game on its head in the middle-overs
