6.17pm 388 runs in the day with Conway and Latham scoring centuries and setting records. NZ, with a depleted attack, chose to bat WI out, to eliminate the chance of a loss at the risk of not having time to bowl themselves to victory. Questions will be asked of their delayed declaration, but the logic might be that the lack of pace on this pitch sometimes nullifies the issues it throws up - up and down bounce. Campbell and King were able to adjust to balls rising up or keeping low because of it during a tense last hour's play and go through unscathed. An absorbing final day awaits so please join us again tomorrow bright and early.
Matt: "Don't know who else they could have picked. The next seamer fit and healthy plays for Tauranga intermediate school." Ha! That's the best summation of NZ's injury problems I've heard all series.
Rob: "Mark with a 'bah humbug' in time for Christmas. Plenty of mitigation for me for NZ. Still a day left, hopefully they can pull it off."
Jack Daniels : "West Indies will win tomorrow..record!!"
Last over then. Slip, leg slip and short leg

mark: "if nz doesn't bowl WI out its poor selection or lack of skill, the pitch does enough. Jacob Duffy and Patel will be challenging tomorrow. Not sure if the others will be. "
Two overs left to stumps.

Leg slip joins short leg and slip now
Kavem Hodge and not the nightwatcher is padded up. Delay in play with an issue with the sightscreen, allowing the NZ players to gather around the footmarks. Mitchell pushes his hand down on the pitch and a cracked part literally moves. Takes a lot of trust in defence and mental fortitude to ignore that as a batter.
Paul: "Could be looking at something which hasn't happened in first-class cricket since 1960 - a century opening stand in all four innings. And of course the scribbler's curse will move the game along ..."
