6.51pm So, that's a wrap from Test 2 Day 1. It's another cracking contest loading. Can Shubman make it a Daddy, or will England make the new ball talk. Or both, or neither! You'll have to tune in tomorrow to find out. From Miller, Abhimanyu, Ekanth, Sudeep and the team, good night!
Praveen Wilson: "Absorbing Day...Honours shared...India definitely ahead after England toiled on a lifeless wicket...made lively by a probable hint of a collapse...not to be...KnifeEdge stuff..!"
6.46pm Here's Chris Woakes: "A good day, but a frustrating day. A couple of decisions go our way early doors and you're looking at a completely different day. We stuck at our task but after lunch the surface felt pretty flat. We stuck at it well, but they played well, credit to Shubman, he played very well and a great partnership with Ravi as well."
On the umpiring decisions: "Either they go your way or they don't. And umpire's call is there for a reason, when there's a little bit of doubt there. But it's just a frustrating day, because if those wickets do go your way, it just looks completely different."
6.33pm Another absorbing day of Test cricket. Honours broadly even at the close, you'd have to say, though with a very new ball and an allrounder-packed tail, this pair have plenty to do tomorrow to make their overnight position count. For now though, it's Shubman Gill's moment, as he marks his second Test as India captain with his second hundred. A 99-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja ensured England's post-tea double whammy didn't become another dramatic collapse to match those we saw at Headingley. England will be happy enough with their work. Chris Woakes was the pick of the attack, and could have had many more with a bit of luck, while Carse and Bashir toiled hard too.
Georgin: "Can Gill turn this century into a double? The way he's batting, it looks like he's eyeing a big one!"
Nilesh: "I guess, India is 30-50 runs short, and have lost 1 wicket too many. They would have been much better place to have closed at 370/4, it could have be called India's day. Without that, this was England's day. "
Zeeshan: "Day 1 ends evenly poised. India would have liked to be there with one fewer wicket lost, while England would have liked one more... :)"
Ram: "How is this England's day? At best it's a 50-50 day, Indian fans can be too pessimistic sometimes."
One more it will be. Chris Woakes with six balls to challenge the outside edge

- Ravindra Jadeja40 (63b)
- Shubman Gill113 (214b)
- Brydon Carse16-2-49-1
- Chris Woakes20-6-57-2
Two minutes for one ball... I think we might get one more at this rate, despite some urgent gardening
Bhaskar: "Classic sensible Test cricket will always beat Bazball. " Not sure that's strictly true (see Headingley for recent example), but it's a neat sentiment!
END OF OVER:83 | 1 Run | IND: 304/5
- Ravindra Jadeja39 (62b)
- Shubman Gill110 (209b)
- Chris Woakes20-6-57-2
- Brydon Carse15-2-45-1
So, five minutes to the close, so this might well be the final over
Rhys: "Talking of hurty bowlers, what is the update on Atkinson? We were told the 2nd Test for him, but that's now been and gone." Yes, he's not been in action for Surrey this round either. All in good time I guess
