3:14pm A marathon second innings, which lasted almost 155 overs. India perhaps walk off with a sense of relief, probably thinking their decision to enforce the follow-on was vindicated in the end. There was no monopoly of wickets, with almost all of their bowlers chipping in. Renuka, in fact, was the only bowler to not pick up a scalp. Gayakwad was decent in patches today, as were Deepti and Rana. Shafali, who only bowled three overs, meanwhile, came back to break the ninth-wicket stand, which had begun frustrating India.
Now, onto South Africa. This was a lion-hearted display. They were staring down the barrel, yet, they stared India in the eye, daring them to finish the game early. Luus and Wolvaardt were the standout batters, both registering immaculate centuries. de Klerk also showed off her gritty side and ensured South Africa erased the deficit and forced India to bat again. The lower order also did their bit, holding India off as long as they did.
This should be a routine fourth-innings chase and we will be back shortly to bring you all the action.
