Matthews into the wicket-taking act instantly, and a promising partnership has been broken! 62/3

3.4 huge lbw shout, and given! Back of a length in the channel and this decks back sharply. ADR is caught on the crease and is defeated by the sharp inward movement. She gets cut in half and gets rapped on the back leg. The finger went up rather promptly and ADR, after a discussion with her partner, opts not to review. Would that have been sliding down leg? She fails to keep it down, though, and arrows it to Beaumont at backward point, who snares the chance in front of her face. Litchfield timed that well, but it does not matter now. 12.5 holes out to deep mid wicket, and Matthews bags the big fish! Not the greatest ball Matthews will ever bowl, but she will not mind this one bit. A bit of a drag-down and what does for Sutherland is the fact that this holds in the surface. Sutherland, thus, is a touch early on the pull and ends up dragging it towards deep mid wicket. Sutherland walks off disappointed, and that could be a big moment in this game! 89/4

1.1 where are you going, Sophia Dunkley?! Angled in on a hard length on middle and leg. Dunkley tips it to mid wicket and hares half-way down the track. Matthews, though, does not move a muscle, meaning Dunkley has to then scramble back. She pulls out a full-length dive but it is in vain, with Heath and Wareham sharp in their respective actions. Dunkley was not short of her ground by much, but she was short of her ground by enough. Early breakthrough for the Superchargers! 2/1

2.2 knocks her over, and Smith leaps in delight! This is a trademark Linsey Smith dismissal. On a back of a length, pitching just outside off and coming back in with the angle. Matthews shapes to cut but the inward angle makes that option untenable. She swishes at thin air and hears the rattle of off stump soon after. Matthews walks back for just five, and the Welsh Fire under early strife! 6/2

9.5 the change in angle pays immediate dividends, and Beaumont is outta here! This is in the slot and to be fair to Beaumont, it is there to be carved over extra cover. She laces it too but the only problem is that she neither keeps it down, nor does she get under it completely. Smashes it straight to Armitage at extra cover, and her opposite number makes no mistake. A massive, massive moment in this contest! 58/5

8.1 oh dear - is that another run-out?! This is just outside off. Elwiss advances and drills it towards mid off. Hits it firmly enough but still opts for the single. The moment she takes off, though, she knows she is in trouble. The bounce throw by Cross is accurate and Wareham does the rest to send Elwiss on her way. That is the second-run out of the innings, and this one snaps what was looking like a very promising partnership! 48/3

8.5 Jonassen bites the dust, and Wareham is having an impact on this game again! Given just a bit of air but the length is not full enough for Jonassen to reach, despite taking a couple of steps down the track. She goes through with the stroke anyway but because she is not to the pitch of the ball, she cannot keep it down. Arrows it towards Sutherland at mid off, who gobbles up the chance and dents the Welsh Fire further! 51/4

11.2 off stump flattened, and the Welsh Fire are being doused rather swiftly here! Perfect Test match bowling. On a fullish length, and zoning into off stump. Bryce does not move her feet at all and goes feeling for it with her hands. Plays down the wrong line and leaves the field to the sight of her off stump flat on the ground! 65/7

10.5 hot knife through butter, and Smith has her second! Very similar to the ball that got Matthews in that this is also an arm-ball. Pitches just outside off and keeps coming back in. Windsor does not account for it and plays all over it. Middle stump is knocked back, and the Superchargers tighten their grip on this game further! 63/6

12.5 trapped in front, and given! That looked very adjacent! Zipped in full on middle and off. George, rather ambitiously, shapes for the reverse-sweep. Makes a complete mess of it, though, and gets pinned right in front of middle stump. The umpire's finger went up quickly, but George wants to have another look. Clearly no bat involved, says the third umpire. Time for Ball Tracking, and it returns with three reds. George has to go, and the Superchargers just two wickets away from an opening-fixture win! 72/8

14.4 simple return catch, and the Welsh Fire are nine down! Full on off stump and this seems to just stick in the surface slightly. Davies, without moving her feet, pushes at it and all she manages is a simple chip back to the bowler. Superchargers one wicket away now! 76/9

19.3 taken excellently by Wareham, and that sums up a commanding display by the Northern Superchargers! Back of a length, angling into middle and leg. Levick swings at it because, well, why not. Tugs it uppishly towards deep mid wicket and Wareham races in from the fence to complete a forward-tumbling catch. A comfortable win in the end, and the Superchargers have been full value for it! 94/10
