4:06pm A much better batting innings than what the Manchester Originals put together yesterday, and that was down to a coherent batting effort. Perrin and Davidson-Richards set the tone early, before Sutherland took control. She showed off her repertoire of strokes and even though she only managed 28, her partnership with Perrin allowed Armitage and Wareham to apply the finishing touches - both of them mustering cameos that may have just pushed the hosts above par.
The visitors, meanwhile, will feel they gave away a few too many runs. There were a few misfields, and their bowling, at times, seemed to lack the requisite bite. Matthews, though, was as impressive as ever, and she might have a huge role to play if the Fire are to chase this score down. It seems advantage NSC at the moment, but the Fire (pardon the pun) have the firepower to have a proper rattle at this. Join us in a bit for the chase!
