11:30pm That will be a wrap from us. The Mumbai Indians march into their second WPL final where they will be up against a very familiar foe in the Delhi Capitals. That game will happen at the Brabourne Stadium on Saturday and we hope to have your company for that too. Until then, this is goodbye from Chandan, Venkat Raghav and myself. Take care, folks!

Hayley Matthews, Player of the Match: Think it was a really good game, you got a lot of value for your shots as a batter. We (Nat and me) worked hard to ease the pressure off of us. With the ball, I had my plans and tried to execute them as best as I could. One of those wickets where you were going to be able to put the ball away, was trying to choose my areas and manipulated the field really well too. (On how she assessed the conditions with the ball) Tried to control just one side of the field, varied my pace - that is something we have been working on. We were in their step-hit zone quite a bit (the last time we played them), lots of learnings from that and glad I was able to execute (tonight). (Plans for the final) Come back, do our homework on DC - they are a good team and a team that has gotten the better of us in the last two games. Come back, do our homework and then execute on the field.

Harmanpreet Kaur, Mumbai Indians captain: Feeling great, it was a great team effort, really happy with the way we played today. Before the game, I wanted to bat first. But then we decided to chase - whatever score is on the board, if you show that trust, you can chase. Whatever happened, happened for good, and Hayley and Nat did a good job, setting it up for us. They are great players, they know how to play these kinds of games. We don't need to tell what they need to do. Really happy with how they took responsibility and batted for the team. Bowling wise, we did well today. All the bowlers, they executed well, and these are the things we wanted to do. Next game is important and we need to again sit and think what went well for us.

Vinod : "19.2 @Shashwat Kumar. Wow! That's some poetry!" -- Thank you, glad you liked it!

Ashleigh Gardner, Gujarat Giants captain: This group has got a lot to be proud of - so many positive stories, different people have stood up at different times. Absolute pleasure to lead this side. Young players putting their name up in lights - that is what it is all about in tournaments like this. (On how she prepared the team for the final) I just said let's not get overawed by the occasion. This franchise has never been in the final but let's just embrace it. Everyone was excited when we found out we qualified, but today, it was not to be. We did not do all three facets well enough. We missed opportunities, with the ball
and with the bat, we were short. (On Dottin and her injury) Obviously not ideal losing someone who has been such an important part of the team. Pretty much a like-for-like replacement (in Gibson). She (Gibson) was thrown into the deep end but she is the kind of personality that takes it head-on. I hope Dottin is okay. She just hurt her knee but I hope she is alright for the next series. (Message to the fans) Hopefully we are treading in the right direction. For our fans, who have backed us this season, it was nice to get some wins and play in front of the home crowd. Hopefully we can keep growing on that. Just awesome to be involved in this franchise for three years and to see it grow exponentially.

Nat Sciver-Brunt: (On Charlotte Edwards) She has got great experience obviously but the best thing is that she tries to make everyone feel comfortable - that has contributed to a great vibe around the group. When you are playing pressure games, you want your more experienced players to stand up, and that went well for us today. (On her batting form and if this has been her best tournament from a batting standpoint) Yeah, definitely. Not really sure what I have done differently, to be honest. We have played a lot of cricket up until now (away from this tournament). Wickets are good, outfields are quick - that plays into the batters' hands, I guess. (On hitting sixes) I was a bit disappointed that I did not hit sixes before that. I guess my strengths are around hitting powerfully along the ground and that allows me to move the field around. Just make it as difficult for the bowlers to bowl at me. We would not have minded (what happened at the toss), we would have bowled as well. But to put runs on the board like that, in a pressure game, that is also a way to go about it. Losing the toss today sets us up nicely for a good match in the final, and we can take confidence from that.

Sandy: ""So the final will be a repeat of WPL Season 1.""

11:02pm Another clinical and comprehensive MI win over the Gujarat Giants. It is 7-0 now, and this is perhaps the most telling of those wins, given it has ended the Gujarat dream, and catapulted the Mumbai Indians to another summit clash, against their old rivals the Delhi Capitals.

At the half-way stage, it seemed the Giants needed something special. What they got, though, was an error-strewn powerplay and three unnecessary run-outs. Gibson tried her best, as did Litchfield but neither could go on long enough to transfer any pressure back onto MI. Mooney and Gardner failed, and with Dottin missing, that proved to a pivotal point of difference.

As for MI, their bowlers stuck to their guns, with Matthews bagging three, and Amelia accounting for two batters. Sciver-Brunt and Ismail were also among the wickets, and they will be quietly confident of adding to their trophy tally when they arrive at this venue on Saturday.

Matthews to Meghna Singh, OUT, Champions before anyone else and now, on the cusp of doing it all over again! Roaring in their den like they mean to rampage on - irresistible, irrepressible, invincible (almost), incredible and inevitable! And this glittering and glorious star cast, from Harmanpreet to Hayley, from Amanjot to Amelia, from Sciver-Brunt to Shabnim Ismail, will have a shot at etching and engraving themselves into WPL folklore, and at adding the final punctuation to another pointedly powerful season on their proud and pompous patch! This is slower, much slower in fact, and it entices Meghna into a wild swipe acorss the line. She gets nowhere close to the pitch of the ball, and nowhere close to the middle of the bat. Sciver-Brunt hurtles to her left from deep mid wicket, settles under it and does the rest. Handshakes, smiles and embraces in the MI camp. They knew what they had to do tonight, and they have accomplished that to the tee. The GG dugout is a little more sombre, which is understandable. They too knew what they needed to do, and how they probably needed to play out of their skin, but on the big night, when they required their players to stand up, they just did not turn up, which may feel more heart-breaking than the result itself!
