England scored at 6.85 an over between lunch and tea and it seems certain that they'll pull the plug on this innings at some point this evening to have another dart at Ireland's top order. Samuel: "@Dave - on the other hand, does any other Test playing nation let players from opposing countries play as domestic players, even if they're from a neighbouring country? South Africa don't let Zimbabweans as far as I'm aware, India doesn't with Bangladeshis, Pakistan with Afghans. Also, I suspect their hands are tied by Brexit: EU passports can no longer be used in lieu of a British one to play as a domestic, and that's law, which the ECB have no say in!" -- Samuel, the Northern Irishmen are in a strange situation of being classed as 'overseas' players despite holding UK passports. The suggestion back in 2019 was it was open to legal challenge, but nobody has taken the ECB on.
