Tanim: "This is why, kids, you have to fasten your laces properly." -- Saif Hassan seemed to have his laces undone as well earlier in the day - the stump camera showed this when he hit that six off Ramesh Mendis.

Lakwin: "Jayawickrama ends with the best figures on debut for a SL bowler. What a fantastic performance by him. Also credit to the captain and management on a opportune declaration! Wonder where all the critics who were pushing for a Dickwella century are now.."

Abdul Qadir : "Hope Dickwella opens if SL decide to bat." -- That would be fun, but I doubt it'll happen.

4.35pm Sri Lanka lead by 242. Will they enforce the follow-on? Still two entire days to go, plus some seven overs tonight. It looks like they won't be enforcing it. Lahiru Thirimanne rushed back into the dressing room, suggesting he's padding up, and Liton Das was having keeping practice on the ground. The rest of the Bangladesh team are coming out onto the field as well. So it looks like Sri Lanka will bat again. There's enough time left in this game, so a good idea to give their spinners some rest. Plus they'd much rather be bowling than batting in the fourth innings.

Lakmal to Taijul Islam, OUT, oh no, what a way to go. Back of a length, slanting across to off stump, and he goes back and across to defend elegantly into the cover point region, but in doing so, he seems to have trodden onto his wicket. Oh no, this is quite sad. He went deep in his crease, but not so deep that he would have been hit wicket, but his left shoe came off, and he lost his balance as that happened and slid backwards and disturbed the stumps. Was he wearing a shoe a size too large for him? Or had he simply not fastened his laces tightly enough?

Over the wicket now.

Lasan Rashmika: "If you put all the number 11 batsmen in one team, Abu Jayed will still come to bat at the number 11 position in that team as well." -- Ouch. T Natarajan, who played for India at the Gabba recently, might be a contender too.

Lakmal to Taijul Islam, no run, length ball, swinging in from outside off. Looks to drive through the covers on the up, ends up inside-edging into his pad

Lakmal, around the wicket to Taijul.

Jayawickrama to Abu Jayed, no run, quick, sliding on with the arm. No real idea of what that ball would do. Presses halfway forward and defends a long way outside the line to be struck on the pad. Missing leg comfortably, though

Jayawickrama to Taijul Islam, no run, tossed up outside off, stretches out and blocks it back down the pitch

Abu Jayed makes the lonely walk out at No. 11. An average of 2.55 from 19 innings puts him firmly in the Chris Martin category. But it'll be Taijul on strike first up. Jayawickrama continues.

Lakmal to Shoriful Islam, OUT, bowled him. Another big inswinger, straight into the base of off stump, and Shoriful, staying leg-side of the ball, looks to drive down the ground, playing well away from his body, and only manages an inside edge

Lakmal to Shoriful Islam, 1 leg bye, half-appeal for lbw after Shoriful misses the flick. Clearly pitched outside leg stump, and the batter picks up a leg bye into the square leg region

Vishwa Fernando is warming up, so it might not be spin from the other end after all.

Lakmal to Taijul Islam, 1 run, full, a bit of swing back in towards off stump, driven to the right of extra-cover

And Sri Lanka take the second new ball straightaway. Here's Suranga Lakmal. I suspect we might still have spin from the other end. Over the wicket to Taijul.

They've called for drinks now. Bangladesh still need 51 to avoid the follow-on. Given the potential for weather interruptions, Sri Lanka might be thinking of enforcing it. The new batter is Shoriful Islam, another left-hander.

Figures of 6 for 91 on debut. What a dream for Jayawickrama!

Jayawickrama to Taskin Ahmed, OUT, this looks very close too! Another big lbw appeal. But it's turned down on the field. Sri Lanka review though. It's a nicely flighted delivery, pitching on a length, but miles outside off. Taskin goes back in the crease but is a little lazy bringing the bat down on it, and is struck on the knee roll in front of middle stump. Is that spinning so far it's missing leg though? No, says ball tracker. That's crashing into leg. Jayawickrama has six!
