6.28pm: The stumps are out of the ground, I can see a groundsman's cart whizzing by on the fixed camera. It's been a day at the cricket, and who could ask for more? Lots of intriguing subplots around the action - not least Sam Curran's coming down crook - but few definitives to be drawn. For Team Buttler, Jofra Archer and Mark Wood made things happen, while Ollie Robinson and Dom Bess both bowled tidily. For the second day running Team Stokes were second best (England will hope that's not an omen), with only the captain and Zak Crawley making much of an impression on the scorecard. Anyway, there's one more day of this practice game to go, and still pointers to be gleaned; thanks for your company, we'll be back for more in the morning. Stay alert classy. Bye!

Virdi to Mahmood, OUT, heaved leg side, but he's picked out a fielder! Mahmood tosses it away, giving Virdi a wicket for his troubles (having begun the game outside the XIV) and that will be that for the day. Lovely
