12:01pm 30 overs were bowled in that session and no, this is not a drill. The over-rate was excellent but that was perhaps the only thing SA can shout about from that session. They dropped Shafique very early in the piece and he remains unbeaten at the break, with Masood batting excellently and transferring pressure onto the bowlers.
There has not been a lot of spin on offer, which has blunted South Africa's threat, but credit must also be given to how controlled Pakistan have been with the bat. They will want more of the same after the break and if pre-match predictions of this pitch deteriorating are to come true, Pakistan will want a healthy total on the board. Which, of course, is what SA will want to deny. Hemant will be back in about half an hour for the resumption.
Krishna: "@shashwat: do u think South Africa made a wrong call in picking Jansen instead of playing mulder here. " -- Too early to say. Jansen does give them something different with his height and his left-arm angle. Short leg in play now too
hb: "Shan Masood goes so unnoticed. Even in first test, it was him who set the tone in first innings .... he is repeating the same in this test aswell" -- Not sure about the unnoticed part because he is, well, the captain of this side. But yes, he is playing a good knock here.
