Sandesh: "Would it not have been better to not enforce the follow on, use the hard roller and declare in 5-10 overs?" -- Fair shout Sandesh, but overkill at this point. 489 is a mountain day 4 in Galle.

Barnaby Grant: "@Scott: Probsbly the most obvious follow on in history, but I bet Australia still debated it for half an hour before deciding on it. " --- Due diligence FC.

Danish: "Just to add on Sineesh comment. the remark on Joe Root was he may be last person to get 12000 runs in Test cricket and not 10000 as well all knew Smith, Kohli & Williamson will also eventually get 10K"

Matthew: "I'm an Aussie fan who is called Matthew haha. However, I'm a bit concerned about Kuhnemann's bowling action... his arm sometimes seems slightly bent shortly before he releases the ball. Am I being delusional?" --- As someone who has defended Murali all his life, yes you are Matthew, yes you are.

Tris: "Wonder if Webster will get a chance to bowl in the second Sri Lankan innings " --- If Sri Lanka are able to force Webster into action, they will have done very well.

Molle: "who was it on their knees? it's weird so I'm assuming Marnus?" --- Heh yeah, think it was actually.

Scott: "This is probably the most obvious follow-on decision in the history of test cricket. "

10.30am So Australia secure a monster 489-run first innings lead, and unsurprisingly enforce the follow-on. It took the visitors just 45 minutes this morning to pick up the final five Sri Lankan wickets, as Mathew Kuhnemann led the charge to complete his five-wicket haul. Lyon picked up three as well, while Starc had two. Some rain is expected today, but with a full day's play available tomorrow as well (with a much brighter forecast), Sri Lanka have their work absolutely cut out for them. We'll be back shortly for the start of Sri Lanka's second innings.

Kuhnemann to Vandersay, OUT, But just like that the joy is short-lived! Tossed up and Vandersay goes again, looks to plonk this over long-on but gets a leading edge and this goes straight up in the air for cover to gobble up. Five-for Kuhnemann as Sri Lanka are bowled out for 165

Kuhnemann to Vandersay, FOUR, Vandersay will have enjoyed that! Short, wide and crunched through the covers for four

kiran: "Will Australia enforce the follow on? You'd think so. Should they? Australia carefully manage bowler workloads but you'd think the rain yesterday has given the group enough of a rest, but who knows?" --- They definitely should, weather or not.

Lyon to Peiris, OUT, And now he's gone! The plethora of close in fielders do the trick. Good length on the stumps, Nishan tries to defend but this one catches the inside edge and pops up off the pad, straight to short leg for an easy take. Sri Lanka are 9 down

Kuhnemann to Jayasuriya, OUT, Too easy! And another one goes! Vicky Prabath comes down the track but far too tentatively, gets nowhere near the pitch and has this one turn past his forward push. Stumped by quite some distance
