The ball seemed to have straightened after pitching, and hence went through to middle and off. Smith was defending from off, and had left a gap between bat and pad. There's no inside edge there... and ball tracking shows the ball would have hit Smith on the top of off!! A massive partnership of 266 ends, but Smith had batted wonderfully for his 141 401/3

132.6 gone! Leading edge to cover! Inglis' debut innings ends with an impactful 102 off 93 balls. He walks back while acknowledging the support from the crowd. It was a leaping catch by Kamindu, who was placed close in, and took the ball with a reverse cup over his head. Inglis had decided to skip down the pitch, and closed the face of the bat to try and clip this length ball angling into middle and leg. But he seemed to have done that too early - or was it the slowness of the pitch coming into play? 570/5

149.2 Outstanding grab at short cover! And Webster has to go. It needed something special, and Kamindu Mendis has delivered. Another wicket for Vandersay, as this one was tossed up and driven hard to short cover. Maybe didn't want to go quite so square, and was in the air long enough for Mendis to complete a great take 629/6

1.6 confident appeal for lbw by Carey and Kuhnemann... and given out belatedly! Oshada reviews, though. I thought that would go over the middle stump, but we'll know soon. The ball landed on a length on leg and just about turned away enough to finish on a stum-to-stump line. Oshada was looking to clip the ball with the turn, but seemed to be slightly late on the shot. His front leg was on leg, and he was hit on the flap of his front pad. Rather, bang in the middle to strike either end of both flaps. There's no inside edge involved, and ball tracking the ball would have just about hit the top of middle. So Sri Lanka lose Oshada and a review 7/1

4.2 taken on the juggle! It was McSweeney, the substitute fielder, at gully. Starc bowled it on a short of a length just outside off, and got some extra bounce - perhaps a combination of his pace, and the ball being new and hard. Dimuth looked to ride the bounce and punch at the ball, but the zip off the surface meant it ended up taking the outside edge - very close to the shoulder - of the bat, and went to McSweeney, who leapt to get the first touch on the ball, before turning around and diving forward to complete the catch 15/2

Head was placed at short leg, although he seemed to be moving to his left at first, he quickly shifted his weight to his right, and dived full stretch to grab the ball. Lyon got one to dip at Mathews, and bowled full while also getting nice turn. Mathews ended up getting a glove - or maybe an inside edge - to fall early 30/3

20.3 Oh what a soft, soft dismissal! But Australia will take them however they come. This was very full, and sliding down leg. Kamindu looks to whip it away but only manages a faint tickle down leg that Alex Carey gobbles up 67/4

32.3 Oh, what have you done, DDS? That's another wicket gifted to Australia! DDS skips down the track, but he gets nowhere near this length ball that spins away from his bat swing. Carey does the rest and Sri Lanka have lost half their side 107/5

48.1 And the plan pays dividends! This was tossed up outside off, similar to the one last over, but this time Mendis can't get it enough in front of square. It's a top edge, and the square leg - Todd Murphy - who is about 15 meters in front of the ropes for just this stroke, moves swiftly to his left and holds on very well with the reverse cup 156/6

50.1 Too easy! And another one goes! Vicky Prabath comes down the track but far too tentatively, gets nowhere near the pitch and has this one turn past his forward push. Stumped by quite some distance 156/8

52.2 But just like that the joy is short-lived! Tossed up and Vandersay goes again, looks to plonk this over long-on but gets a leading edge and this goes straight up in the air for cover to gobble up. Five-for Kuhnemann as Sri Lanka are bowled out for 165 165/10

51.5 And now he's gone! The plethora of close in fielders do the trick. Good length on the stumps, Nishan tries to defend but this one catches the inside edge and pops up off the pad, straight to short leg for an easy take. Sri Lanka are 9 down 161/9

2.1 Starc gets Oshada with an absolute corker! Inswinging jaffer! Right on the crease and it's just too good for Oshada as it hits him low on the front pad. Not sure why they've reviewed this to be honest, because as they say, missing leg, missing off, crashing into middle. And three reds confirms it. 6/1

3.1 Oh dear, oh dear! Murphy has castled Dimuth! And he will want to go bury his head somewhere after this. Murphy moved around the wicket, pitched this outside off but it just carried on with the angle. Dimuth though has completely misread this and simply left it alone. The ball just keeps going and rattles off stump. Sri Lanka are having an absolute horror morning 6/2

Lyon and Carey weren't convinced but Smith had heard two noises and his review means Australia get a big wicket right before lunch! 75/3

He loses his balance and stumbles forward and Carey, who didn't collect it cleanly, still manages to hold it and take the bails off with the ball lodged between his gloves low on the hand. Or was it between his hand and chest? The question is if the ball had contact with his gloves or not when he took the bails off. And Joel Wilson is satisfied that Carey did enough and Mendis falls for 34 187/7

42.1 Knocks him over! Jayasuriya goes for a mighty sweep, but misses this full ball that spins in from outside off. It stayed low too and crashed into off stump. Lyon closes in on a five-for 192/8

54.3 Third time does the trick for Australia! Goes for another big slog and gets a top edge that flies high to point. Kuhnemann gets his ninth wicket of the match and Australia register a win by an innings and 242 runs 247/10

47.1 Oh beauty! Peiris has defended well so far but has no answer to this one as this one goes on with the angle to beat the outside edge and clip off stump. Australia now one wicket away 209/9
