Excellent from Ireland after Rahmat's wicket. They've managed to limit the lead to 142. It looked like this was easily going to be 200 plus at one stage. The last five wickets have fallen for just 87. That said, Ireland will have to bat very, very well to first wipe out this deficit and then try and get 150-160 ahead to bring their bowlers back into play in the fourth innings. The surface has gotten lower, but it isn't impossible to bat if you apply yourself, as Rahmat and Shahidi showed. Twelve overs remain in the day, do join us in 10 minutes.

Thompson to Wafadar Momand, OUT, cramped for room as he looks to cut, the ball gets big on him and deflects off the shoulder of the bat to Balbirnie at slip.

Thompson to Asghar Afghan, OUT, looks to flay this behind point but gets a thick bottom edge and it's well taken by the wicketkeeper! Good knock, that bordered on the outrageous at times but that's the way he plays. He'll look to dance down and swipe you out of nowhere, then buckle down. Worked today.

Thompson to Asghar Afghan, no run, squirts this full and straight delivery on the stumps to fine leg off an inside-edge, but refuses the single

Asghar is batting like a man possessed, throwing his bat at tossed up deliveries with the full knowledge that this is his best way to score runs with the last two batsmen for company. Afghanistan's lead stands at 139, can they get close to 175?
