More from the stats cave, courtesy Bharath Seervi: Tim Murtagh is the second-oldest No. 11 to score a Test fifty. Beaten by Pat Symcox by a couple of months, while he beat third-placed Glenn McGrath by about three years.
Tom: "Huzefa. Stuart Thompson already hit a 50 and took a few wickets in Irelands 1st test put Murtagh could be the 1st to hit a 50 and take a 5fa though "
Huzefa: "Tim Murtagh should also go ahead and become the 1st Irish to score a 50 and take a wicket in the same match!"
Cheema: "As a test cricket fan from Pakistan, I didn't bother to watch the limited overs series between these countries but can you please tell me where can I watch this test match between these infant test sides? " --- I believe there is an official YouTube stream.
Galen: "Last partnership was more than half the total"
sreekumar ramac: "the irish spirit is commendable. from KOB's gritty 100 against pak and now dockrell's and murtagh's brilliance"
2:39pm It was relief for Ireland when we broke for lunch, but the tables have turned somewhat at the stroke of tea. Ireland's 10th wicket pair digging in for 125 balls. Afghanistan are having a little meeting before going off the ground. They won't be pleased at the 87 runs they've conceded to Murtagh and Dockrell. But they're handy batsmen, and there are runs for handy batsmen on this pitch. Particularly in the middle of the day. Ireland's frontline batsmen will be kicking themselves, particularly after Porterfield had elected to bat. Decent efforts from all of Afghanistan's bowlers, but Ahmadzai and Nabi were a class above. Built a lot of pressure and took all the crucial wickets, those two. The wristspinners cashed in on Ireland's fragile approach and shared four wickets. It's not a menacing total by any means, but can Ireland use the momentum to make bigger dents?
We'll see.

VD: "Tim Murtagh is now Ireland's all time second highest run scorer in Tests" -- After KOB
Looks like we'll have three more overs before tea. At least two. Change of bowling. Yamin Ahmadzai is back.
