7:10pm Some recovery this from West Indies. They were down in the dumps at 56 for 8 with Theekshana and Hasaranga running roost. But it was a counter-attack like none other as Motie kickstarted a run of something special. He came out all guns blazing and there was a method to his madness. He chose his deliveries to attack and that allowed Rutherford some time to get a measure of the conditions and the surface before he could explode. He used his power - and the short-arm jabs - to magnificent effect to bring up his second consecutive half-century. Looked good for a century that the rain denied him in the first ODI but it wasn't to be. Motie completed his deserving fifty before the innings came to a close.

If West Indies needs to get some inspiration from this innings, they need not look beyond how the Sri Lankan spinners bowled at the start. They would need to exploit the spin on the surface if they want to stay alive in the series. And they would also need to catch everything that comes their way, unlike Sri Lanka, who let Rutherford slip twice and paid for it. Don't go too far off, Fidel will be back in about half an hour for the start of the Lankan reply

Hasaranga to Seales, OUT, Easy caught and bowled and finally the ordeal ends for Sri Lanka. Tossed up wrong'un around off, Seales looks to turn it across but spoons a catch back via the leading edge. Hasaranga finishes with four as West Indies are bowled out for 189

AM Fernando to Rutherford, OUT, High up in the night sky... and finally Rutherford falls! Or does he? The umpires want to have another look - for the height of the full toss as well as whether the catch was a fair one. It was a juicy full toss on middle and leg, Rutherford looks to flick it away with a half-stride. The height of the ball seems fine. Now, Wellalage at deep square leg had his eyes on the ball, went back a few steps and held on to it. But did he make contact with the boundary cushions just while he took that catch? This looks veerrrrryyy close. I think he is fine and there is no disturbance in the skirting rules the TV umpire. So finally, Sri Lanka do manage to dismiss Rutherford. Ufffff! The partnership ends at 119, the fourth-best ninth-wicket stands in men's ODIs
