Defensive tackle Michael Thornton (Stone Mountain, Ga./Stephenson), who the Nittany Lions have offered a scholarship, will make an unofficial visit to Georgia Tech this Saturday night for the Yellow Jackets' home game with Virginia Tech.
The 6-foot-2 and 280-pound Thornton has over 30 scholarship offers including Penn State, Georgia Tech, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, LSU, Michigan and Miami.
Thornton, who says he will make an official visit to Penn State, will play in a nationally-televised game at 6 p.m. Friday at Martin Luther King in Lithonia (ESPNU).
Michigan junior has Penn State offer
In August, junior linebacker Lawrence Thomas (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) said he had a verbal scholarship offer from Michigan State, and that he expected to receive offers from UCLA, Alabama, Penn State and Colorado.
Thomas now has offers from all of those schools, as well Michigan and Oklahoma.
In addition to the schools that have offered, Thomas is also interested in Iowa, Ohio State and Notre Dame.
The 6-foot-3 and 230-pound Thomas made 77 tackles including five sacks during his sophomore season. He is an ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect.
Wide receiver to visit Penn State Saturday
Senior wide receiver Ryan Keiser (Selinsgrove, Pa.) has been a guest of the Penn State staff at two games this season, the Penn State-Akron game and the Penn State-Temple game. He will be back in Beaver Stadium on Saturday as the Nittany Lions take on Minnesota. He also plans to attend the Penn State-Indiana game.
"I talk to Coach (Mike) McQueary at the games," Keiser said. "They don't know if they have a scholarship yet.
"I've always liked Penn State. I've always dreamed about playing there. Penn State is a good school."
The 6-foot-2 and 185-pound Keiser caught 75 passes and had 21 touchdowns during his junior season. In addition to playing wide receiver Keiser also plays in the Selinsgrove secondary and returns punts.
