Summer Recruiting Bible: Vandy seeks frontcourt reinforcements

Kevin Stallings and Vandy have a chance to continue their momentum on the recruiting trail. Randy Sartin/USA TODAY Sports

Throughout June and heading into the all-important July recruiting period, Jeff Goodman and Jeff Borzello will take a look at the summer checklists for the top 50 programs in college basketball, as revealed in Goodman's preseason ballot published in late May. Goodman and Borzello will show you each roster from a coach's perspective, projecting graduation/NBA casualties and areas of need ahead of 2016-17. Below is the summer guide for the Vanderbilt Commodores.

An index and schedule for the Summer Recruiting Bible series is located HERE.

Summer scenario

Vanderbilt has a chance to make a big move nationally in 2015-16, with a talented core of sophomores and juniors -- and an impressive incoming freshman class. At the same time, Kevin Stallings and his staff know they need to continue building for the future, one that is unlikely to include NBA draft prospect Jones in 2016-17. As a result, the Commodores are targeting a long list of frontcourt players, with Montgomery-DeLaurier and Banks atop the list. If Vandy can reel in at least one of the primary post targets -- along with must-get wing Blackwell, who goes to school nearby and has been a priority of Vanderbilt's for a long time -- this will be a successful class for Stallings.
