While Jim Harbaugh drew cameras and Ohio State got the spotlight, Michigan State quietly went about its business. The Spartans bagged the Ducks in the first meeting of two teams in the AP top 10 at Spartan Stadium since 1966.
No. 6 Auburn 27, Jacksonville State 20 (OT)
Auburn's big, bad Tigers got a little beat up and barely held off the little Jacksonville State Gamecocks, who became the first FCS team ever to take a ranked FBS team to overtime. The Tigers narrowly avoided disaster by scoring in the final 40 seconds of regulation to force OT before pulling out a win.
No. 9 Notre Dame 34, Virginia 27
After Notre Dame lost starting quarterback Malik Zaire to injury, sophomore DeShone Kizer threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Will Fuller with 12 seconds left, breaking the hearts of upset-minded Virginia fans in Charlottesville.
No. 19 Oklahoma 31, No. 23 Tennessee 24 (2 OT)
Oklahoma stormed back against Tennessee with a little Sooner magic. After Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield went 8-of-25 for 84 yards with two interceptions in the first three quarters, he was 11-of-14 for 103 yards with three touchdown passes, plus a touchdown run, in the fourth quarter and overtime.
