College football recruiting: Predicting where the nation's top prospects will sign

Tim Heitman/USA TODAY Sports

As many high school football prospects approach the end of their seasons, recruiting will start to come back into focus. There are currently 57 ESPN 300 recruits who are still uncommitted and will see their recruitment start to get more serious as the seasons wind down.

Here is a look at some of the top uncommitted recruits and predictions as to where they might be headed.

LB Phillip Webb
Sugar Hill, Georgia/Lanier High
ESPN 300 rank: 25

Webb released his top five of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU and Oklahoma on Nov. 4, and any of those teams would gladly take the talented linebacker. He has visited LSU and Oklahoma and recently took a trip to Alabama.

Webb is scheduled to visit Auburn and Florida as well and is planning to sign in December. LSU seems to have made a push with Webb, and the run of success on the field certainly doesn't hurt. His recruitment isn't over yet, though, so this one could change, especially with a visit to Auburn on deck.

Teams in the mix: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma
Prediction: LSU

LB Noah Sewell
Orem, Utah/Orem High
ESPN 300 rank: 49

Sewell came out with a top list awhile back, but it seems as though this could really come down to Oregon and Georgia, among a few others. The Ducks have a big advantage in this recruitment, as Sewell's brother, Penei, has starred on the offensive line for Oregon since his freshman season.

The younger Sewell could always decide to take his own path, though, and Georgia has been pushing in his recruitment. He has kept things relatively close to the vest and initially was going to try to make a decision sometime in November. Whether that happens or not is yet to be seen, but nevertheless, Oregon has a great shot.

Teams in the mix: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M
Prediction: Oregon

OT Marcus Dumervil
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida/St. Thomas Aquinas High
ESPN 300 rank: 65

Dumervil has been a very sought-after offensive lineman and has already taken visits to Florida, LSU and Oklahoma. He recently took in a Miami game as well and could still take a few other trips before making his decision.

With LSU playing at such a high level, it seems as though the Tigers have a very good shot at landing Dumervil. Florida has been after him, though, and is not going to give up without a fight in this race.

Teams in the mix: Florida, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma
Prediction: LSU

DL Alfred Collins
Bastrop, Texas/Cedar Creek High
ESPN 300 rank: 78

Collins released his top group of Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M back in June, but it has been believed that Texas and Oklahoma have had a lot of the focus. It is believed that Texas has been in the lead and the Longhorns still have a very good shot at landing the outstanding defensive lineman.

Texas has lost a few commitments recently, including defensive end Princely Umanmielen, so landing Collins would be a big boost back to this class. The Longhorns could certainly use the defensive help Collins would bring as well.

Teams in the mix: Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M
Prediction: Texas

QB CJ Stroud
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga High
ESPN 300 rank: 176

Stroud is the highest-ranked uncommitted quarterback left on the board and has seen his offer list increase in recent months. Ohio State came in with an offer despite having quarterback Jack Miller committed, and Michigan recently offered after commit J.D. Johnson announced he will no longer be able to play football due to medical reasons.

Ohio State has a very good shot at landing Stroud, but he is going to visit Michigan in December and is scheduled to visit Oregon in late November. Michigan could be a team to watch given the Wolverines need a quarterback in this class and have an opportunity.

Teams in the mix: Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, UCLA
Prediction: Ohio State
