Super Bowl LV betting first look: Factors that could impact the spread

The Super Bowl LV market watch won't be about early line movement. Outside of a drop in the total from 57 at some sportsbooks, nothing has ultimately fluctuated much. The point spread has been sitting in that -3 (-120) pocket across the board.

There are a few details to track as you watch the market in real time leading up to the big game, however. Whether these have any significant impact on the spread and total remains to be seen. I ranked the biggest potential market influencers to keep an eye on this week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Kansas City Chiefs (-3 at -120, 56.5)

1. The serial Buccaneers morning-of bettors. I'm not sure if it is one group or multiple coming in the past two Sunday mornings when betting limits are highest, but they've been spot-on backing Tampa Bay in New Orleans and Green Bay. Against the Saints, the point spread moved from +3 to +2.5. Against the Packers, it moved from +3.5 to +3. We already know that three is a key number, so the significance of these moves was great. Do they fire again the morning of the Super Bowl? Will it be enough to influence the line? There's certainly a chance, and patience may pay off for Kansas City backers if they're able to get a better price.

2. Antoine Winfield Jr. and Jordan Whitehead at safety for the Buccaneers. Winfield missed the NFC Championship Game, and Whitehead was injured for the majority of it. Tampa Bay anticipates Winfield will be able to play, but Whitehead is more of an uncertainty. We saw Aaron Rodgers have more success in the second half of that game, and if one or both of the Tampa Bay safeties are ruled out for the Super Bowl, we can only imagine what Patrick Mahomes II will do to the Bucs' defense.

3. The Kansas City offensive line. Left tackle Eric Fisher suffered an Achilles injury in the AFC Championship Game. It is already compounding a previous injury to right tackle Mitchell Schwartz. Andy Reid is confident that they have the personnel to move guys around and make it work, but getting Schwartz back (questionable) would help the loss of Fisher dramatically.

4. Position players. Le'Veon Bell, Sammy Watkins and Antonio Brown are all expected to play. I wouldn't sweat confirmations of their availability influencing your Super Bowl bets. Sure, they would all be nice bonuses for the Chiefs and Bucs offenses, but they aren't going to be impacting the point spread or total at this point.
