Junior lightweight world titleholder Gervonta Davis was arrested early Friday for allegedly engaging in a street fight outside a Washington, D.C., bar.
Davis, 23, of Baltimore, and Ricardo Jose Rodriguez of Silver Spring, Maryland, allegedly got into an argument at about 2:30 a.m. and it escalated into a fistfight, according to the report filed by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Both men were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
"The argument escalated when both subjects began fighting mutually by punching each other with a closed fist about the upper body," according to the police report. "Several unknown subjects attempted to separate [them]."
Davis and Rodriguez ran from the scene but were eventually apprehended by police, according to the police report.
According to TMZ, the incident began inside the bar over a dispute about the bill and it escalated outside.
Davis (20-0, 19 KOs) is a two-time 130-pound world titleholder. He was stripped of his first belt for failing to make weight for a defense on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight in August 2017. Mayweather is Davis' promoter.
In his next fight, Davis won a vacant world title by knocking out Jesus Cuellar in the third round on April 21 on the Adrien Broner-Jessie Vargas undercard at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
