Boxing divisional rankings: Eubank solidifies spot at middleweight; Benn makes debut at 160

play
The numbers behind Chris Eubank Jr.'s win vs. Conor Benn (0:43)

Take a look at the statistics from Chris Eubank Jr.'s unanimous decision win against Conor Benn. (0:43)

Chris Eubank Jr. turned back bitter rival Conor Benn last Saturday in a thrilling battle that more than lived up to the hype for an epic family feud decades in the making.

Although Eubank possessed a considerable size advantage over Benn in their 160-pound bout, he missed weight and was also forced to navigate a rehydration clause before pushing through a 12-round battle to earn a unanimous decision in a nontitle grudge match in front of 62,000 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The fight was worthy of a rematch and proved that Benn, a career welterweight, could handle himself in a higher weight class.

Although Eubank may have earned his biggest career victory, welcoming a welterweight to the 160-pound weight class wasn't enough to move him among ESPN's top three middleweights, as he sits at No. 5. Meanwhile, Benn holding his ground in a competitive battle allowed him to crack the top 10 at No. 6 in a relatively shallow division.

It's unlikely that Benn stays for anything outside of another fight with Eubank, but, for now, he factors into the divisional rankings. However, Benn's middleweight debut removes him from the welterweight rankings, where undefeated Raul Curiel now debuts at No. 10.

Anthony Yarde remains at No. 7 in the light heavyweight division after narrowly winning his trilogy fight with Lyndon Arthur in the co-main event, earning a unanimous decision to take a 2-1 lead in their series. Unlike his fourth-round knockout over Arthur in 2021, Yarde was in a tough battle with his British rival, eventually breaking through with his high-volume assault to set himself up for a bigger fight in 2025.

Chris Billiam-Smith punches in at No. 4 in the cruiserweight division after a hard-fought win over Brandon Glanton in the televised opener of Eubank vs. Benn. Billiam-Smith battled tooth and nail with Glanton, but his experience allowed him to pull away late and secure a unanimous decision. It was a bounce-back win for Billiam-Smith, who dropped the WBO title to Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez last November.

ESPN's divisional boxing rankings highlight the best in the sport in every weight class. Rankings will change based on recent results and performances. Fighters who have announced they are moving to a different weight class will be ranked in that new division, if warranted, only once they fight in that weight class. Fighters who currently own titles in two divisions can be ranked in both.

Fighters who haven't competed in the past 12 months -- and don't have a fight scheduled -- will be dropped from the rankings until they fight again. Any fighter who tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance will also be removed. That boxer will be eligible to reenter the rankings after his next bout.
