Meyer seals it for Edwards

Three-star safety Ben Edwards (Jacksonville, Fla./Trinity Christian) gave high marks to Ohio State assistants Tim Hinton and Chris Ash for playing a role in his decision to commit to the Buckeyes on Tuesday. But it was head coach Urban Meyer who made the biggest difference. “Who wouldn’t want to play for Coach Meyer?” Edwards said. “People down here in Florida still love him and talk about him all the time. He won two national championships and has always had winning teams. My family is also comfortable with me playing for him, so he definitely played a big factor in my decision.” Edwards picked Ohio State over offers from about 20 other teams.

Missouri junior day on tap

It’s junior day season, and Missouri plans to host a handful of Midlands region prospects at its junior day on Saturday in Columbia, Mo. The highest profile prospect expected is ESPN Junior 300 quarterback Drew Lock (Lees Summit, Mo./Lees Summit). Many believe the 6-foot-3, 191-pound prospect is leaning toward the Tigers over Indiana, Louisville, Ole Miss and Tennessee and this weekend could go a long way toward helping Mizzou’s chances. Also expected are ESPN Junior 300 prospects receiver Alex Ofodile (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge), tight end Hale Hentges (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) and other Kansas City area prospects like offensive lineman A.J. Harris (Stillwell, Kan./Blue Valley) and running back Ryan Williams (Lee’s Summit, Mo./West).

Settle seeing the country

The No. 6 junior defensive tackle Tim Settle (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) has already visited Clemson and Virginia Tech in the past few weeks, but he said on Tuesday he plans on taking more trips this spring. Coming up soon for Settle are visits to Tennessee, West Virginia and Virginia. “I’m still at the point where I’m just having fun with everything and seeing as many places as I can see,” Settle said.
