Before Kenneth Ogbe committed to Utah, there was significant pursuit for the 6-foot-6 German prospect. Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reported that after speaking with a source close to Xavier's coaching staff (Xavier, along with Georgia Tech and the Utes, was recruiting Ogbe) and that person confirmed Ogbe '...was special.' Around the time Ogbe was officially announced as a member of the 2013-14 squad, coach Larry Krystkowiak noted the guard would be an integral part of the Utes' backcourt and praised his defensive ability and high basketball IQ.
There is reason to think, though, that Ogbe could be an impact player for the Utes in his first season. While both Brandon Taylor and Dakarai Tucker showed progress their freshmen seasons and all poised to have breakthrough sophomore campaigns, Ogbe has the size to pose a mismatch on either end of the court. Rafal Juc of Eurohopes.com provided some insight into Ogbe's game, and how he potentially will help the squad (which could prove a thorn to the Pac-12 title hopes of Oregon, Arizona, and Colorado): "[Ogbe] is a great get for Utah. Not a pure PG, but rather playmaking guard. Gifted slasher with solid midrange game."
