Cowboys land three offensive linemen in Pro Bowl; punter snubbed

FRISCO, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys had four players selected to the Pro Bowl. Here's a look at who was selected and who wasn't:

SELECTIONS

Tyron Smith, OT, fifth Pro Bowl: He missed two games because of a groin strain and has been bothered by back, hip and now a knee injury that could keep him out of Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks. He has a career--high five holding penalties, but he remains the prototype at the position with his athletic ability and strength.

Travis Frederick, C, fourth Pro Bowl: This might have been Frederick's best season. He has become one of the best centers in the game and he rarely makes mental mistakes. He has the physical traits to get to the second level, which has helped Ezekiel Elliott, Alfred Morris and Rod Smith have success running the ball. He has also done a solid job in pass protection in breaking in a new left guard in Jonathan Cooper.

Zack Martin, RG, fourth Pro Bowl: Martin has now made the Pro Bowl every year he has been with the Cowboys, putting him on the same track as Hall of Famer Larry Allen, who made the all-star game in each of his first seven seasons in Dallas. Like Smith and Frederick, he is considered by many to be the best at his position and he will likely become the highest-paid guard either in 2018 or 2019.

DeMarcus Lawrence, DE, first Pro Bowl: He picked the right time to have his best season with him set to be an unrestricted free agent after the season. His 13.5 sacks are the most by a Cowboys defender since DeMarcus Ware had 19.5 in 2011 and the first time a Cowboy had double-digit sacks since 2013. He entered the season with nine career sacks and had at least one sack in each of the first seven games.

SNUBS

Chris Jones, P: He is just 26th in average (43.8 yards) but he is ninth in net average (41.7) and he has allowed the fewest punt return yards of any regular punter through 14 games (55). He has just three touchbacks and 20 of his 56 punts have been fair caught. He had a Pro Bowl season.
