Editor's note: On May 26, the L.A. County District Attorney's office told Pro Wrestling Sheet that the case had been dropped due to insufficient evidence.

Former WWE superstar Sean Waltman was arrested Saturday morning at Los Angeles International Airport with a "sizable" quantity of methamphetamines and marijuana, as first reported Tuesday afternoon by TMZ Sports.

Waltman, known at various points in his wrestling career as "X-Pac", the "1-2-3 Kid" and "Sixx", was taken into custody after drug-sniffing dogs found 38 meth/amphetamine capsules, two THC liquid cigarettes, 56 capsules of THC and three marijuana-infused chocolate bars.

Officer Rob Pedregon, the public information officer for LAX airport police, said Waltman was stopped by U.S. Customs and Border Protection while trying to board a flight to the United Kingdom, according to a statement given to the LA Times. Waltman was also wanted for an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence in Los Angeles.

The search was triggered because Waltman is on a Customs and Border Protection watch list for narcotics; Waltman has previously faced drug-related charges, including a 2011 arrest related to hydrocodone and drug paraphernalia. Because of the quantity of drugs, and more than $700 in cash in his possession, Waltman faces multiple counts related to the possession of narcotics with intent to sell, which could land him in jail for up to four years.

Waltman, 44, who has previously discussed his issues with substance abuse publicly on a number of occasions , denied any current issues with drug abuse in a social media post Sunday night.

Concerns for Waltman's well-being began over the weekend when he missed a wrestling commitment in London with independent wrestling company IPW:UK.

Waltman actively performed for the WWE from 1993-96 as the 1-2-3 Kid and from 1998-2000 as X-Pac; Waltman spent 1996-98 wrestling for rival company World Championship Wrestling. After continuing his career with a variety of independent companies after his departure from WWE, Waltman made his first appearance with the company in over a decade at the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony for Shawn Michaels.

In March 2013, Waltman signed a WWE Legends contract with the company, and subsequently made a handful of public appearances for the company, including a role at WrestleMania 31 during a match between Triple H and Sting. Waltman has continued to wrestle on an occasional basis on the independent wrestling circuit, with about 20 recorded matches in 2016; his last match was in early April in Iowa.
