ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Oakland University has named Jeff Tungate its women's basketball coach, giving him the position after he served in an interim capacity for about a month.
Athletic director Tracy Huth announced the move Tuesday. Tungate replaces Beckie Francis, who was fired June 12.
Tungate was the associate head coach for the men's team for the last six seasons. He spent seven seasons overall with the men's program, helping the Golden Grizzlies to five consecutive postseason appearances.
Tungate graduated from Oakland in 1993 with a degree in English. He played on the baseball team while at the school.
