BYU has hired Amber Whiting to replace Jeff Judkins as the Cougars' women's basketball coach.
Judkins retired last month after 21 seasons at BYU with a 456-204 record and 10 trips to the NCAA tournament.
Whiting, who is from Utah, played one season for BYU in 2000-01 and has coached at the high school and AAU levels. She is married to former BYU player Trent Whiting, and their daughter, Amari, is a rising high school senior who is committed to Oregon.
Amber Whiting led the Burley High School girls team in Idaho to the 2022 state championship and was named the 4A Idaho Statesman Coach of the Year.
The Cougars went 26-4 overall this past season and 15-1 in the West Coast Conference before falling to Villanova in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
"I've been in basketball my whole life playing, coaching and developing players, and I am looking forward to doing it again at this level," Whiting said in a statement. "Coach Judkins established a great tradition of winning and a strong culture with some incredible players. I can't wait to get on board and continue that legacy and surround myself with a great staff. I am ready to get to work."
