Guard Jordan Horston, the leader in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals for No. 12 Tennessee's women's basketball team, has a fractured dislocation of her left elbow and is out indefinitely, coach Kellie Harper said Saturday.
Horston, a 6-foot-2 junior, was injured in Thursday's loss at Alabama. She is averaging 16.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 steals this season. Harper said Horston will be monitored for the possibility that she could come back near the end of the season. The Lady Vols are currently a No. 4 seed in Charlie Creme's latest Bracketology.
"I think you're really pushing it with the season winding down," Harper said. "But I suppose at this point, the door would still be open [for Horston to return]."
Tennessee has three more regular-season games left, starting with Sunday's meeting at No. 1 South Carolina (ABC, 1 p.m. ET). It would have been a matchup involving two of the top juniors in the country with Horston and national player of the year favorite Aliyah Boston of South Carolina (24-1 overall, 12-1 SEC). Boston is going for her 19th consecutive double-double Sunday, which would tie an SEC record.
This is the second major injury for the Lady Vols (21-5), who lost top reserve Keyen Green on Jan. 23 to a knee injury. Tennessee is tied for second in the SEC at 10-3 with LSU and Florida, who meet Sunday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
