Coach Geno Auriemma added to UConn's recruiting Class of 2021 when he landed No. 5 prospect Amari DeBerry on Friday night.
DeBerry, a 6-foot-5 forward from Williamsville, New York, was on the 2019 USA Women's U16 national team in May. She is an agile interior prospect who will bring size and a strong defensive presence to UConn's frontcourt.
In a tweet posted Friday night, DeBerry wrote, "Super excited to announce my commitment to coach Auriemma and staff at the university of Connecticut #GoHuskies #Committed."
DeBerry is the second prospect in the Class of 2021 to commit to UConn, joining No. 17 prospect Saylor Poffenbarger, a 6-foot-2 guard from Middletown, Maryland.
Auriemma and the Huskies already have a strong recruiting class in 2020, headlined by No. 1 prospect Paige Bueckers. UConn also has commitments from No. 21 Mir McLean, No. 26 Aaliyah Edwards, international prospect Nika Muhl and forward Piath Gabriel.
