The story of Diana Taurasi's on-court legacy is coming to streaming.
On Thursday, Prime Video announced the release date and trailer for "Taurasi," a three-part docuseries dedicated to the 14-time WNBA All-Star's basketball career. The series will premiere exclusively on Aug. 7 in over 240 countries.
"Diana's greatness isn't just in her game, but in her grit, wit, and refusal to fit the mold," the series' director and executive producer Katie Bender Wynn said in a news release. "From Argentina to UConn, six Olympics, to Phoenix, to post-Soviet Russia, she chased excellence -- and respect -- on her own terms. Taurasi is a cinematic portrait of an icon who never asked to be discovered -- only understood."
The docuseries will include exclusive interviews from Taurasi herself, her relatives, longtime UConn Huskies women's coach Geno Auriemma, four-time WNBA champion Sue Bird and more.
According to the news release, the docuseries will aim to "reveal a funny, defiant, vulnerable, imperfect and deeply relatable athlete, whose authenticity and commitment to greatness have revolutionized women's basketball."
Taurasi, who is the WNBA's leading career scorer, announced her retirement from the league in February. She spent her entire WNBA career with the Phoenix Mercury, with whom she won three championships, two Finals MVP awards and five WNBA scoring titles. She also won league MVP in 2009.
