Connecticut Sun's Alyssa Thomas leaves Game 2 with right shoulder injury as Las Vegas Aces tie series

Connecticut starting forward Alyssa Thomas left Tuesday's semifinal series Game 2 against Las Vegas with a right shoulder injury suffered at the 5:05 mark in the first quarter, and missed the rest of the Sun's 83-75 loss.

Thomas, the Sun's second-leading scorer and leading rebounder during the regular season, has long dealt with a partially torn labrum in her right shoulder. Thomas had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the Sun's 87-62 Game 1 victory Sunday.

The WNBA has set up a so-called "clean corridor" between the bubble facilities and a hospital, so players with injuries can go there without needing to return to quarantine before they rejoin the bubble.

Thomas went to the hospital, then returned to the Sun bench during the second half with her right arm in a sling. Sun coach Curt Miller said after the game he thought she might have suffered a dislocated shoulder, but did not have any official medical update.

The 6-foot-2 Thomas is in her seventh season in the WNBA out of Maryland. She averaged 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists this season, all career highs. Thomas helped lead the Sun to the WNBA Finals last season, where Connecticut lost in five games to the Washington Mystics.
