Italian Open: Jack Draper beats Corentin Moutet to reach QF

British No.1 Jack Draper has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Italian Open after beating France's Corentin Moutet in the round of 16 on Tuesday.

Draper, who fought back from a poor display in the opening set, booked himself a place in the last-eight with a resilient performance to beat Moutet 6-1, 6-4, 6-3.

The win sees Draper book a first-ever spot in the quarterfinal at the Italian Open where he will face Carlos Alcaraz.

The 23-year-old struggled for consistency in the first set but regrouped to out perform his opponent.

"I'm proud of my efforts today. I was a bit bamboozled in the start," Draper told Sky Sports after the match. "I haven't played someone like that ever.

"There's no doubt I came out a bit all over the place today -- but I'm in the quarterfinals now and there's no time to be tired."

The second set saw a small drama over a video review after Moutet called for the technology, arguing that Draper hit the ball into the ground. The Brit was awarded the point after it was shown he hit the ball lawfully.
