Indian Wells: Cameron Norrie outclassed by Tommy Paul in third round

Cameron Norrie's Indian Wells campaign came to and end on Sunday after the Brit suffered a 6-3, 7-5 defeat to 10th-seed Tommy Paul.

Norrie's love affair with the tournament has soured in recent years. He won in California in 2021 and reached the quarterfinals in the following two years, but Sunday's defeat marks the second year in a row in which he has exited at the third-round stage.

The 29-year-old was broken three times in the first set as he was outclassed by his American opponent, but showed more fight in the second where he rallied from 4-2 down to level the scores at 4-4.

Paul, though, made sure to capitalise on a series of serving errors from Norrie to take the deciding 12th game and reach the round of 16. Paul's victory was clinched via Norrie's third double fault of the contest.

Norrie's defeat leaves Jack Draper as the last remaining British man in the draw after he beat rising star Joao Fonseca on Saturday.

Later on Sunday, Katie Boulter was knocked out after suffering a 6-0, 7-5 defeat to Elena Rybakina.
