Motherwell 3-0 East Stirlingshire

Motherwell's Marvin Johnson, Scott McDonald and Chris Cadden all struck in the 3-0 win over East Stirling which keeps their side on course for the Betfred Cup last 16.However, Mark McGhee's team had to wait until the 53rd minute for Johnson's breakthrough after failing to make the most of their early openings.McDonald netted the second on 77 minutes before Cadden's late third wrapped up the Ladbrokes Premiership outfit's second Group F win. Another victory at Stranraer on Saturday should see them follow Rangers into the knockout rounds.McGhee made four changes to the side which beat Annan on Saturday, with Craig Clay handed a start in midfield.The former Grimsby midfielder had agreed a short-term deal specifically to allow the Well boss time to assess him in action against the Shire and he did well enough to suggest a longer contract could be in the offing.But there was a more familiar face in the home dugout as James McFadden returned to Fir Park to start work as McGhee's new assistant.Predictably, it was one-way traffic as Motherwell swarmed over the Lowland League part-timers - but East Stirling keeper Darren Dolan did well to deny Johnson and McDonald early on.Motherwell's failure to maintain their smart tempo, though, allowed Shire to settle and they even mustered a shot on Well stopper Craig Samson's goal when Derek Ure took aim from distance.Their brave resistance stretched into the second half but Johnson eventually found the space he needed for the opener, collecting a pass from the tidy looking Clay before spinning and firing past Dolan.With the handbrake off, Ben Heneghan, Lionel Ainsworth, Clay and Johnson all came close to a second but it took McDonald's close-range header from a Cadden cross to put daylight between the sides.Cadden was just as clinical four minutes from time as he picked out the bottom corner from Richard Tait's cut-back.ends

East Stirlingshire 0-3 Rangers

Joe Dodoo and Josh Windass grabbed their first Rangers goals as the Ibrox men all but booked their place in the last 16 of the Betfred Cup with a 3-0 win over East Stirling.Former Accrington youngster Windass has made an encouraging start to his Ibrox career since moving north this summer.And after impressing against Motherwell and Annan in their opening two Group F clashes, the 22-year-old playmaker opened his Gers account as Mark Warburton's team made it three wins from three against John Sludden's part-timers.An early Andy Halliday penalty had the visitors ahead before Windass prodded home 10 minutes before the break.Gers treated the second period as a training exercise but Warburton did hand new signing Dodoo the last half an hour to introduce himself to the travelling support and he made his mark with a stoppage-time tap-in.The Ibrox men are yet to get up to full speed but even the sticky Ochilview plastic pitch could not slow them down as Gers toyed with the Lowland League minnows from the off.Windass fired wide in the opening minutes before Harry Forrester did the same after Kenny Miller sent him flying in behind the home defence.East Stirling's resistance lasted just a quarter of an hour, though. Referee Crawford Allan was quick to spot Ross Fisher's tug on Barrie McKay in the box and the punishment was a Halliday penalty which fizzed past Darren Dolan's reach.The only surprise was it took until the 35th minute for the Light Blues to double their lead. Halliday sprayed the ball wide for McKay, who wasted little time sending his cross to the back post. Windass' first shot was blocked by Adam Murray but the 22-year-old made sure he found the net with his second.Miller somehow blazed over from 10 yards out just before the interval and Rangers were subdued somewhat after the break when Windass failed to return as he limped off clutching his thigh.Forrester and Niko Kranjcar had efforts after the break, while Dodoo could not make an instant impact as his first sight of goal had the sting taken out of it by a deflection.However, a couple of clever touches from the former Leicester striker hinted there is more to come from the 21-year-old and he made no mistake late on, netting from close range after Lee Wallace laid it on a plate.Rangers can guarantee top spot by winning their final group match in Monday's visit of Stranraer.ends

Scottish League Two champions East Fife were held to a surprise 1-1 draw at home by bottom club East Stirling.East Fife already had the title sewn up, with the visitors cast adrift at the foot of the table having won just nine games all season and now facing a relegation play-off with Edinburgh City.However, a shock looked to be on the cards when Michael McMullin fired in an excellent free-kick after 51 minutes.Kevin Smith capitalised on some sloppy defending to restore parity two minutes later but despite plenty of late pressure East Fife could not find a winner.

Brian Cameron at the double as Elgin easily beat East Stirling

Brian Cameron struck twice as Elgin brushed aside rock-bottom East Stirling 3-0 to claim their first win in seven matches and move up to third place.East Stirling held the edge in terms of form having won their last match but they were sunk inside the opening 30 minutes following goals from Cameron and Dylan Easton.Cameron needed just nine minutes to put the visitors in front, slotting home Thomas Reilly's cross, and then Easton made it 2-0 in the 27th minute with Daniel Moore claiming the assist.Home goalkeeper Darren Dolan performed heroics to keep Elgin from increasing their lead but he was beaten for a third time 16 minutes from the end when Easton and Cameron combined for the latter to slot home his second.

Max Wright scores and then sees red as East Stirling win at Annan

Annan slipped to fourth place in Ladbrokes Scottish League Two as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at home to 10-man East Stirling.Lewis Guy was twice denied by goalkeeper Darren Dolan before the visitors took the lead, Max Wright hitting a superb shot from outside the area which went in via the upright.Wright's afternoon took a turn for the worse five minutes before the break when he was sent off for a reckless challenge on Rabin Omar.Ben Jago skimmed the crossbar with a shot at the start of the second half as Annan started the second period brightly, and they levelled shortly afterwards.Substitute Smart Osadolor had been on the pitch a matter of seconds when he converted Josh Todd's cross.Osadolor missed in front of goal and Guy hit a post, only for East Stirling to snatch the lead from a set piece, Kris Faulds scoring from close range.Gavin McMillan sealed the points for the rock-bottom visitors with a header from Lloyd Kinnaird's cross.

Queen's Park coast to win at East Stirlingshire to boost play-off hopes

Queen's Park boosted their Ladbrokes League Two play-off push with a comfortable 3-0 win over the Scottish league's basement club East Stirlingshire.The visitors took the lead when Ross Fisher fouled Paul Woods and Jamie McKernon, against his former club, fired the resulting penalty beneath keeper Richard Barnard.Barnard made good saves from Vinnie Berry and Chris Duggan but Berry made it 2-0 from David Galt's cross and Paul Woods fired the third just before half-time.Woods was twice denied and Duggan was foiled by an offside flag before injury forced McKernon off the field.Barnard denied Galt a fourth from 30 yards and close-range misses from McKernon's replacement Conor McVey, Duggan and Woods followed.William Muir denied the Shire a consolation goal before Barnard's fine save from Woods left Queen's Park to settle for three.

East Stirling end losing streak with Berwick draw

Bottom side East Stirling claimed their first point from six games as they held Berwick to a goalless stalemate at Ochilview Park.The away side had the best chance to get on the scoresheet in the opening exchanges but Darren Lavery's close-range effort that was heading for the bottom corner was held out by Darren Dolan.Down at the other end, John Fraser sent his shot wide and Ross Fisher's header missed the target before Blair Henderson came close with two chances for the Black and Gold.Lavery was again close to breaking the deadlock for the visitors after the break but sent his long-range effort wide before team-mate Jonathon Fairbairn's header sailed over the bar.The Shire struck back with chances of their own through Michael McMullin and Kristopher Faulds but neither side was able to get a breakthrough as the spoils were shared.

Stirling pile more misery on East Stirling

Stirling secured local bragging rights and deepened East Stirling's Scottish League Two relegation fears with a 3-0 triumph at Forthbank Stadium.Moses Olanrewaju gave East Stirling keeper Darren Dolan no chance as he found the top-right corner from close range in the 17th minute to open the scoring.Darren Smith then put the result beyond doubt after 64 minutes with a neat finish before Philip Johnston completed the scoring late on.East Stirling are now 10 points adrift at the bottom of the table after a fifth successive defeat while Stirling remain sixth, seven points adrift of a play-off place.

Sean Higgins nets double as 10-man Clyde hold off bottom club East Stirling

Clyde maintained their promotion push in Scottish League Two with an eventful 4-2 win over bottom side East Stirling.The basement dwellers made a lively start and were ahead after just three minutes as Ross Fisher set up Thomas Orr in the penalty box but the scores were level four minutes later when Jordan Cairnie headed into his own net.The visitors took the lead via another header five minutes before the break, this time as Scott McLaughlin headed home after being set up by Scott Linton.Sean Higgins fired low past Darren Dolan to make it 3-1 with 19 minutes remaining but East Stirling had a lifeline just three minutes later when David Marsh was dismissed for a challenge on Reece Donaldson.Kris Faulds had the home fans sensing a comeback when he netted with nine minutes to play to make it 3-2 but Higgins put the result beyond doubt after being set up by David Gormley in the last minute.

Rare Craig Wilson goal helps set up timely win for Arbroath

Craig Wilson was the unlikely spark as Arbroath ended a run of three straight defeats with a 3-0 win at home to fellow strugglers East Stirling.The 29-year-old defender had only previously managed three goals in his career, but he opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a header from Jordan Lowdon's pass.East Stirling goalkeeper Richard Barnard did well to keep his side in the game, saving from Josh Skelly and Andy Munro in the first half and denying Munro again soon after the break.Kane Hester then hit a post before Mark Whatley finally doubled Arbroath's lead in the 69th minute when he found the top right corner of the net.Mark Williams added a third from close range four minutes later to seal the win.
