Sydney FC sign Peruvian Piero Quispe on loan from Pumas

Sydney FC have reinforced their attacking depth with the addition of Peru international Piero Quispe for the upcoming A-League Men season.

A day after Brazilian import Leo Sena was released from the final year of his contract, the Sky Blues have moved to add Quispe on a season-long loan.

An attacking midfielder with 12 senior Peruvian caps, he joins from Mexican side Pumas UNAM. Sydney have an option to make the move permanent for the 24-year-old, who played at last year's Copa América.

"To bring a player of Piero's quality to Sydney FC in his prime is fantastic for our club and for the A-League," head coach Ufuk Talay said. "He has already shown at a young age that he can be the best in his league, winning both individual and team honours in Peru.

"He fits our profile, has international experience with his country and he brings creativity, vision and a winning mentality.

"He's a player who can unlock defences and excite our fans, and we're delighted he has chosen to join us."

Quispe takes Sena's spot on Sydney's quota list alongside English forward Joe Lolley and Congolese defender Marcel Tisserand.

Douglas Costa is the other import on the Sky Blues' books but there has been uncertainty surrounding the future of the winger, who has remained in his native Brazil for much of the offseason.

Sydney are keeping one spot open with a view to adding a striker.
