Summer signings Liam Delap (2) and João Pedro both scored as Chelsea beat AC Milan 4-1 in their final preseason match ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Andrei Coubis scored an own goal after just five minutes to put Chelsea into the lead before João Pedro, a £60 million ($80m) signing from Brighton & Hove Albion, scored his fifth goal in as many games for his new club two minutes later.

Coubis was then sent off after 18 minutes for taking Chelsea's striker down when the last man.

Delap replaced João Pedro after an hour and slotted home a penalty seven minutes later, before scoring a second goal in the 90th minute after Youssouf Fofana scored a consolation goal for the Serie A side.

Chelsea immediately got onto the front foot against their Italian opponents and, having struck twice in seven minutes, came within inches of adding a third on two occasions, when Cole Palmer struck the upright with one freekick and narrowly missed with another.

Following the red card, the London side were even more dominant, though they were unable to trouble the scores again in the first half.

Luka Modric entered the fray at half time to make his AC Milan debut following his move from Real Madrid and Chelsea too began ringing the changes shortly after.

A concern for Enzo Maresca will have been an inury to Trevoh Chalobah, especially after Levi Colwill suffered an ACL injury in training last week.

Chalobah was replaced by the youngster Josh Acheampong and a few minutes later he was joined by Delap and Estêvão, who scored on his debut against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday night.

Just six minutes later and the Brazilian winger was again causing issues, this time earning a penalty when fouled at the back post, which Delap put away with aplomb.

Fofana scored for Milan a few moments later to give Massimo Allegri's team something to take away, before Delap got on the end of Andrey Santos' slick pass to finish the night in style for Chelsea.

The performances of both strikers, following their summer moves from Brighton and Ipswich respectively, will have given Maresca food for thought ahead of the Premier League season getting underway.

They welcome Crystal Palace to Stamford Bridge on Aug. 17, before travelling to West Ham on Aug. 22.
