TRENDING RUMORS

- Manchester United are being linked with a shock move for former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. talkSPORT says that United are one of three clubs who are considering making an offer to the 30-year-old, which would see him return to the Premier League. The Serbia international left Fulham for Al Hilal in the summer of 2023, and has scored 68 goals in 79 appearances for the Saudi Arabian club. Everton and West Ham United are also said to be looking at Mitrovic, who has also played for Newcastle United, but it would take a £40 million transfer fee.

- AC Milan are interested in Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, says Fabrizio Romano. The 39-year-old has been one of the first names discussed by the San Siro hierarchy, who consider him as a "dream option" amid their search for summer reinforcements. Modric is to leave the Bernabeu at the end of his contract later this month, though he is expected to take time before deciding his next club after receiving multiple approaches. He made 56 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos last season.

- Tottenham Hotspur are looking to generate funds to help reshape the squad by allowing skipper Son Heung-min to leave for Saudi Arabia, according to the Telegraph. The 32-year-old South Korean striker is a target for a number of Saudi clubs and could exit shortly after lifting the Europa League trophy, his first piece in silverware in 10 years in north London. Son has scored 173 goals in 454 games, but Spurs are hoping to raise some funds before his contract ends in 2026. Saudi Pro League chiefs believe Son has the potential to help take the league to Korean markets.

- Chelsea have approached AC Milan over a move for goalkeeper Mike Maignan, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 29-year-old French international has one year left on his contract and remains in talks with Milan chiefs over an extension that would see him stay at the San Siro, but there has been no agreement as of yet. Chelsea are among the clubs monitoring the situation as they look to strengthen in that area of the pitch.

- Manchester United will have to part with up to £60 million, around the same fee they paid for Matheus Cunha, to pry Bryan Mbeumo away from Brentford, according to Talksport. United have been in talks with both the 25-year-old and Bees officials as they look to make their second signing of the summer, but it previously looked as though £50 million would be enough to seal the move. However, Bees representatives believe Mbeumo is worth just as much as Cunha due to his age -- Mbeumo is a year younger -- and the fact that he scored more goals last season.

EXPERT TAKE

Rob Dawson asks if Manchester United really could make a move for Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Manchester United need -- and want -- a striker this summer, but it would be a surprise if it ended up being Aleksandar Mitrovic.

He's got the Premier League experience Ruben Amorim likes -- look at Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo -- but he doesn't fit the age profile. Cunha is 26 and Mbeumo is 25. Mitrovic will be 31 in September.

With no European football next season, Amorim is planning to slim down his squad, not add ageing legs.

He's already got two centre-forwards in Rasmus Højlund (for now) and Joshua Zirkzee. United are open to offers for both and there is a feeling that a season-long loan move for Højlund would suit everyone, provided it makes sense financially.

CONFIRMED

- Inter Milan confirmed the departure of manager Simone Inzaghi just days after their Champions League final defeat to PSG. The 49-year-old led the Nerazzurri to one Serie A title, two Champions League finals, two Coppa Italias and three Italian Super Cups after his arrival in 2021, but now looks set for a lucrative managerial role with Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, according to Fabrizio Romano.

- Liverpool announced that goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has joined Brentford on a permanent deal. The Reds' No. 2 behind Alisson has impressed when called up to start in place of the Brazilian, but he will now be looking for more first-team opportunities following his move to south London. Kelleher's arrival follows Mark Flekken's departure from Brentford to Bayer Leverkusen.
