Meanwhile, Manchester City played out a goalless draw against derby rivals Manchester United and Nottingham Forest dropped points after losing to Aston Villa.
In LaLiga, Real Madrid suffered a blow after losing to Valencia while table toppers Barcelona have a four-point lead after their 1-1 draw against Real Betis.
