Amorim: I've always felt support from Jim Ratcliffe (1:44)

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim feels he's always had "honest conversations" with Sir Jim Ratcliffe. (1:44)

Ruben Amorim has said he is "in a hurry" to win trophies at Manchester United while also admitting that the club hierarchy recognise he needs time to deliver success at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese manager has struggled to turn around United's fortunes since taking over from Erik ten Hag in November. The club are 14th in the Premier League, with just one win in their previous five matches and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Fulham at the start of the month.

The Europa League has emerged as the club's only chance to win silverware and secure European football next season. They host Real Sociedad in the second leg of their round-of-16 tie on Thursday, with the aggregate score at 1-1.

Despite the growing pressure on the 40-year-old, Man United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe said he expects him to be at the helm "for a long time."

Amorim too, spoke of the strong connection he shares with Ratcliffe and the rest of the hierarchy, saying they are all on the same page.

"They know how I am, and I'm so clear when we had the interviews and the conversation. I was so clear what kind of guy I am, that now is easy to have this kind of relationship," he said in an interview to Sky Sports.

"And then they know that we need time, but I'm always in a hurry. I don't know if it's something about my age or I don't know, but I'm always in a hurry. So I think they like that because I want to win. They want to win. And we are similar in that aspect. We are in a hurry. We want to win.

"This is a special club. Everybody knows that if we turn things around, it's a special feeling that we have with each other. And we believe a lot in what we are doing."

Amorim's belief in the project extends to his players, and Rasmus Højlund in particular. The misfiring striker has scored just seven goals in all competitions this season, with his last Premier League goal dating back to December last year.

However, Amorim spoke of the value the Denmark international brings to the team by highlighting the role Højlund played off the ball in the buildup to United's goal against Real Sociedad in the round of 16 first leg.

"People cannot see, but I see it and Rasmus is doing a lot of things well, but he's in that moment that as a striker you need to score," he said.

"And sometimes when he has the opportunity or the ball, he struggles because the confidence is not there. But the work that he does in the games is helping us to, for example, achieve this stage of this competition."
