Copa de la Reina draw sees Barcelona vs. Real Madrid clash

Barcelona and Real Madrid have been drawn against each other in the semifinal of the Copa de la Reina, setting up three Clásicos in three weeks in March.

The tie will be played over two legs, with Madrid hosting the first leg the week commencing March 3 and the return game to be played in Barcelona the following week.

Atlético Madrid and Granada will meet in the other semifinal.

Madrid have failed to beat Barça on 16 occasions since they absorbed CD Tacón in 2020, but they will have three more chances to break their Clásico duck next month.

After the Copa tie, the top two in Liga F meet in the league at the Olympic Stadium on either March 22 or March 23.

Barça lead Madrid but the gap at the top was cut to just five points recently when Pere Romeu's side suffered a shock home defeat to struggling Levante.

The two teams last met in January when Barça ran out 5-0 winners in the Spanish Supercopa final, leaving Madrid still searching for their first ever trophy.

Barça, meanwhile, are targeting back-to-back quadruples. They won all four trophies available to them last year and after winning the Supercopa are now focused on Liga F, the Copa and the Champions League.

They face Wolfsburg in the Champions League quarterfinals in March, although they have had to move the home leg of that tie to the Johan Cruyff Stadium due to too many games being played on the Olympic Stadium pitch next month.

Madrid also remain alive in Europe. They take on Women's Super League side Arsenal in the last eight.
