Thomas Tuchel will make his first formal appearance as England manager three weeks before his official start date after it was confirmed he will attend next week's 2026 World Cup qualifying draw, sources have told ESPN.
The 51-year-old is not due to begin his role as Gareth Southgate's permanent successor until Jan. 1 and had originally not planned to make any public appearances prior to that date.
However, sources have told ESPN that Tuchel will now join a Football Association (FA) delegation in Zurich as the European qualifying groups are determined on Dec. 13.
Tuchel is expected to fulfil media requirements after the draw and will therefore speak in his capacity as England manager for the first time since his unveiling on Oct. 16.
During that news conference at Wembley, Tuchel stated that his 18-month contract was designed with one sole focus in mind: to win the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
England are one of the 12 top seeds in the draw with 16 European teams set to qualify for the newly-expanded 48-team World Cup finals.
Interim boss Lee Carsley won five of his six matches after assuming temporary control following Southgate's departure and he was expecting to meet with Tuchel to pass on information about the squad's progress.
Carsley handed eight players their debuts while guiding England to promotion back to Nations League A.
