France and Portugal set up an intriguing quarterfinal contest, coming off games that didn't exactly set the goal counter ticking or saw their star players shining.

France knocked Belgium with a late own goal, substitute Randal Kolo Muani's shot forcing an own goal just five minutes from time while goalkeeper Diogo Costa was the hero for Portugal, who needed a penalty shootout to beat Slovenia after Cristiano Ronaldo's extra-time miss from the spot,
