TOP STORY: Six departures planned at Man United?
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be preparing to axe six players during the January transfer window, the The Sun reports.
With 18-year-old Atalanta winger Amad Diallo set to make his way to Old Trafford in the next few days, and United flying high in the Premier League, Solskjaer is gearing up for what could prove to be a ruthless few weeks.
Sergio Romero, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Jesse Lingard, Dan James and even Brandon Williams are all reported to be on the list of players allowed to leave.
Brighton are reportedly keen on goalkeeper Romero, while defenders Jones and Rojo have attracted interest from Newcastle. United triggered Lingard's one-year extension last week, but are ready to move him on, with Tottenham and Sheffield United linked. James and Williams could be sent out on loan, as first team football has become scarce for them.

21.36 GMT: AS Roma are in the market for cover for striker and captain Edin Dzeko and playmaker-in-chief Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, which suggests that former Giallorossi forward Stephan El Shaarawy and Everton attacker Bernard are the players manager Paulo Fonseca would like to recruit for the tasks.
20.59 GMT: With Olivier Giroud reportedly committing to seeing out the season at Chelsea, Juventus will have to turn their attentions elsewhere as they seek to reinforce the striker position, and 2Corriere dello Sport reports that Napoli's Fernando Llorente, free agent Graziano Pelle and Cagliari front man Leonardo Pavoletti are being considered by the Bianconeri.
20.22 GMT: After losing several key members of the first team this summer in an effort to cut costs, Valencia sit in La Liga's relegation zone and are in desperate need of reinforcements. The club's primary target in January is underutilised Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks, according to Sport, which reports that the Spanish side would be able to match the 24-year-old's €5.5m annual wages, but getting the England international for a reasonable price from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will prove a challenge.
20.03 GMT: Arsenal have announced that 19-year-old centre-back William Saliba has joined Nice for the remainder of the season.
19.45 GMT: Centre-back Merih Demiral is not satisfied by his lack of playing time at Juventus - who also boast Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Matthijs de Ligt in the heart of defence - this season, Gazzetta dello Sport writes, and if the 22-year-old does not feature more regularly he will look to leave the Italian champions for a club that will afford him more opportunities.
19.08 GMT: Sky Sports News's Anthony Joseph reports that Genk, who sit second in the Belgian league, are finalising a deal that could rise to £5m for 21-year-old Philadelphia Union centre-back Mark McKenzie. The United States international had long been linked with a move to Scottish powers Celtic.
18.31 GMT: Belgian outlet HLN reports that Manchester City midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne has rejected the club's first proposal to extend the 29-year-old's contract - which expires in 2023 - by a further two years. The sides are said to be some way apart in negotiations, with the Belgium international's representatives reportedly seeking more-lucrative terms than what's been offered.
17.54 GMT: Wolverhampton Wanderers have offered striker Diego Costa an 18-month contract, according to Corriere dello Sport, with the Premier League outfit in need of cover for Raul Jimenez, who continues his recovery from a skull fracture. The 32-year-old Costa had his Atletico Madrid contract terminated just last week, and has also received offers from clubs in Brazil in China, and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is also said to have made contact with the Spain international.

Simakan, 20, was the subject of interest from Milan over the summer and German club RB Leipzig are also following him. 16.02 GMT: Arsenal have three wins from three, but is their good run of forming proving who isn't worth a place in the side... 15.46 GMT: Jan Aage Fjortoft reports that Bayern Munich's David Alaba has decided to join Real Madrid. Marca's front-page story on Saturday said that Real Madrid were preparing a four-year, €10m-a-season contract offer for Alaba and Fjortoft now claims that it's a done deal for next summer. The 28-year-old's Bayern contract expires on June 30 and he's now able to begin talks with other clubs about a free transfer this summer. Bayern had reportedly offered Alaba a five-year deal with an annual salary of around €11m, which could have gone up to €15m with bonuses, but withdrew that offer in November and broke off any further talks with the Austria international. Sources told ESPN's James Olley last month that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing Alaba as a free agent in the summer. Alaba would be a high-level alternative to Raphael Varane and club captain Sergio Ramos at centre-back, with the latter also in negotiations with the club over a new contract with his deal up in the summer, as well as a replacement for Marcelo on the left. 15.33 GMT: Sky Sports claims that Tottenham aren't keen to let midfielder Dele Alli leave in January. Alli, 24, has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho and has made only four appearances for Spurs in the Premier League this season. PSG have been linked with a loan move for Alli given they have former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino at the helm now. But the report states that: "Spurs do not want to allow Alli to leave as they continue to compete in four different competitions." 14.58 GMT: Barcelona have some big plans. Or do they? 14.11 GMT: The Independent reports that "Arsenal are investigating a possible player-plus-cash deal for Emiliano Buendia, to try and persuade Norwich City to sell the highly-rated midfielder." Buendia, 24, has impressed in the Championship and could be tempted by a return to the top flight. However, Norwich are reportedly asking around £40m to let him go, while manager Daniel Farke said at the weekend: "Emi is a key player for us, an important member of the group, and he is totally committed to us. He is our player and will continue to be our player. He is on a long-term contract so we keep him." Arsenal, according to the report, are willing to add players to the deal, with Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson among those considered. The Madrid captain is yet to renew his contract at the Bernabeu, which expires on June 30, and has been free to negotiate with other clubs since Jan. 1. City are aware that a deal would be complicated but are looking to reinforce their defence ahead of next season. Sources told ESPN that Pep Guardiola is a fan of Ramos and would be keen on a deal for the veteran centre-back. Ramos will turn 35 in March but City's assessment is that he's still able to perform at the highest level and would be an "interesting" option to provide leadership and experience at the back. Guardiola's options in the position are Ruben Dias, 23 -- signed from Benfica for €68m in September -- Nathan Ake, 25, as well as John Stones and Aymeric Laporte, both 26. Sources told ESPN that City would have no problems taking on Ramos' substantial salary demands, which have proved a stumbling block in Madrid, given that he would arrive on a free transfer. 13.30 GMT: Former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has joined Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's backroom staff at Old Trafford, the club have confirmed. Fletcher, who played for United between 2003 and 2015 after coming through the academy, has been coaching the under-16s since October but has now stepped up to work with the first team. Matondo's move is expected to be confirmed on Tuesday. The winger, who has four Wales caps, has made just three appearances for Schalke this season in the Bundesliga. He had interest from Premier League clubs but has opted for Stoke and will help fill the void left by injured duo Tyrese Campbell and Steven Fletcher. 12.37 GMT: Atletico Madrid really did well to land Luis Suarez for free from Barcelona. Tessmann, 19, enjoyed a fine breakout year in MLS, starting nine games while developing his game at senior level. If the defensive midfielder is included in either U.S. Soccer's national team or U23 camp later this month, he would travel to Germany shortly after. The length of his training stint would be impacted by the MLS schedule, which has yet to be announced. The Texas franchise and German giants Bayern have established a flourishing youth partnership over recent seasons, with 20-year-old U.S. defender Chris Richards making a loan move in 2018 before signing permanently a year later. 11.17 GMT: Bayern Munich attacker Joshua Zirkzee has been linked with a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt or FC Cologne by kicker. Zirkzee, 19, has dropped down the pecking order after the arrival of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as Robert Lewandowski's backup at the Allianz Arena and has only featured in three matches this season. The Dutchman could now leave Bayern Munich on loan, though a permanent move with a buy-back option could also be a solution to allow him more playing time. 10.45 GMT: Real Madrid will try to sign Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres next season, COPE radio reported on Sunday night. Torres, 23, is the most highly-rated young defender in La Liga and is now a regular for club and country since making his Spain debut in November 2019. He said he was "calm and happy" at Villarreal when asked about links to Madrid and Barcelona last month. COPE say Torres has a €50m release clause and could be a replacement for Ramos, who is yet to receive a formal contract renewal offer from Real Madrid, according to the radio station. 10.24 GMT: A retweet from Sergio Ramos' brother and agent Rene suggests he's disappointed at Real Madrid's failure to agree a new contract for the club captain. ESPN reported in November that initial talks had begun, but there has been no resolution yet and Ramos is now free to negotiate with other clubs. "Someone will have to explain how and why we've reached this point, allowing your captain, a Madrid legend, to appear in absurd lists of players who can sign for any club for free today!" read the tweet from pundit Alfredo Duro, which Rene Ramos retweeted on Sunday. Sergio posted an enigmatic Instagram story of himself wearing the Real Madrid captain's armband on Sunday night, soundtracked by AC/DC's 'Back in Black', which could be interpreted as saying he's not given up on staying just yet. 10.05 GMT: Chelsea spent over £220m in the summer, but will they be looking for a new manager in the coming weeks? 09.32 GMT: Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho had "subconsciously" left the club in the summer amid interest from Manchester United, the club's CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has told kicker. Sancho, 20, had been linked with a switch to Old Trafford until Oct. 5, the last day of the summer transfer window, but ultimately stayed at Dortmund where he is under contract until 2023. However, the England international has struggled for form since, only scoring his first Bundesliga goal in the 2020-21 season in a 2-0 win against Wolfsburg on Sunday after a goal drought of 1,298 minutes. Watzke admitted that Sancho's dip in form might have something to do with the transfer saga. "Maybe Jadon had subconsciously prepared for a move a bit. I believe he at least thought about it that much that he lost a bit of his ease, but for weeks now I found him trying very hard," he said. "I think he needs two, three goals and this could boost his form straight away. He still is one of the greatest talents there is." United seemingly never came close to offering the €120m transfer fee the Germans were holding out for in the summer as Watzke added: "It was signalled that the fee would be paid in instalments over several years. It was all a theoretic discussion from then on." 09.04 GMT: Arsenal centre-back William Saliba is set to join Nice on loan, with no option to sign him permanently. Sources told ESPN's James Olley on Dec. 4 that he would leave the club on loan in January and would prefer a move back to his native France, with Nice keen. The 19-year-old is yet to make his debut for the Gunners, having been initially loaned back to Saint-Etienne for the 2019-20 campaign following a £27m transfer in July last year. Manager Mikel Arteta then opted not to register Saliba for either Premier League or Europa League matches this season, believing he needs a "transition year" before beginning his career in north London. 08.51 GMT: Getafe are on the verge of signing Japan midfielder Takefusa Kubo on loan from Real Madrid, according to Carrusel Deportivo. Kubo has made 13 league appearances for Villarreal but just two as a starter since joining the Yellow Submarine on a season-long loan from Madrid in the summer. The 19-year-old is keen to leave Villarreal in search of more playing time and Getafe are in advanced negotiations to acquire Kubo on loan for the remainder of the season. "He told me he was looking to leave because he's playing less than he thinks he should," Villarreal boss Unai Emery confirmed on Saturday. Real Madrid have given the green light for Kubo's potential transfer to the Madrid-based club, who are just two points above the relegation zone. Kubo spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Mallorca, where he scored four goals and set up five more in 35 league appearances. Diallo was signed by United from Atalanta on the last day of the transfer window in October for €21m, with a further €20m in potential add ons, but they allowed the player to remain with the Italian outfit while they secured a UK work permit for the youngster, 18. Sources told ESPN in December that United were close to obtaining a Governing Body Exemption for Diallo, following talks with the English Football Association, that would enable the Ivory Coast-born winger to link up with Solskjaer's squad this month. Sky Sports is reporting that Paris Saint-Germain are in talks with Everton to sign striker Moise Kean on a permanent basis. The Italy international is on a season-long loan deal in the French capital and, after nine goals in 16 appearances thus far, the belief is that new manager Mauricio Pochettino will be eager to keep hold of him on in a more long-term arrangement. Given how poorly Kean's tenure at Goodison Park has been up to this point, Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti may not have too many complaints about letting the striker go either, with a proposed transfer fee of £31m being touted. The Sun is reporting that Southampton are interested in signing Leicester City's Demarai Gray. The 24-year-old's contract with the Foxes is set to come to an end in June, which means he is now free to speak with foreign clubs. That includes Monaco and Marseille who are amongst a host of interested sides, with Southampton preferring to wait until the summer transfer window to make their move. Either way, Gray looks destined to depart the King Power Stadium within the next few months. - Fiorentina could be set to reignite their interest in Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, La Nazione reports. Torreira's stint with Atletico Madrid hasn't quite gone to plan and, with the Gunners looking to end his stay there early due to a lack of playing time, Fiorentina will be hoping to bring him over to Italy for the second half of the campaign. - Ligue 1 side Nice are considering a move to sign Crystal Palace star Mamadou Sakho, Foot Mercato reports.
