New England Revolution standout midfielder Carles Gil underwent surgery on his left Achilles tendon, the club announced Thursday.

The Revolution said Gil underwent the procedure on Tuesday in his native Spain and he faces a recovery timetable of three to five months.
The 27-year-old Gil had one assist in two games in the MLS is Back Tournament. He exited in the second half of a match against D.C. United on July 17 due to the injury.
Gil was an immediate hit in 2019 for the Revolution as he won MLS Newcomer of the Year honors. He had 10 goals and 14 assists while starting all 34 regular-season games.
