Former Tottenham Hotspur and current Monterrey striker Vincent Janssen believes Liga MX is better than the Netherlands' Eredivisie.
Dutch player Janssen made the shock move from Spurs to Rayados in July 2019 and went on to win the 2019 Apertura in his first season at the Mexican club.

"The Mexican league is very good and the standard is high," Janssen told VTBL. "It is better than the Eredivisie. That's my opinion. Here there are a lot of international players that come from this part of the world and there are two that come from Europe, of which I am one.
"It is a completely different way of playing football and it certainly isn't bad in terms of quality," he continued. "If you look at our team, you'll see national team players from Mexico, Colombia and Argentina."
Janssen went on to explain that it is a different type of soccer than in the Netherlands and that there is more physical players and more spaces in Liga MX.
The 25-year-old striker has struggled for regular starts at Monterrey so far, but has scored 11 goals in his time in Mexico, following a frustrating stint at Tottenham.
"It was not the period I was hoping for at Tottenham," said Janssen. "As a 22-year-old boy from AZ [Alkmaar] it was a great step, but I didn't get the minutes that I expected. Also, I did not reach my potential. Ultimately you want to play again, be a footballer and be appreciated. "
Monterrey currently sits in last place in Liga MX, without a win in the first 10 games of the 2020 Clausura, which is currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
