Ajax are closing in on the signing of Argentina international Lisandro Martinez, sources have told ESPN FC.
The Champions League semifinalists face an exodus of players following an excellent campaign which could see them win a domestic league and cup double.
Frenkie de Jong will join Barcelona and Matthijs de Ligt is set to follow him to Camp Nou while several others are linked with moves away.
But sources have told ESPN FC that Ajax have set their sights on 21-year-old Martinez, who plays for Defensa in Argentina's Primera Division.
Having made his debut for Argentina in March this year, Martinez, who can play at centre-back and left-back, could now move on to Europe for a €7.5 million transfer fee.
While some clubs in South America are reportedly also interested in Martinez, a move to Ajax would see him follow in the footsteps of fellow Argentines Lisandro Magallan, 25, who joined Ajax from Boca in January and Nicolas Tagliafico, 26, who moved to Europe in January 2018.
Ajax did not comment when contacted by ESPN FC.
Left-back Tagliafico has generated some interest in Europe with Arsenal, Real and Atletico all reportedly keeping tabs on him.
However, the Argentina international last week confirmed he will be staying at the Johan Cruyff Arena for one more year.
