Ferjani Sassi signs three-year deal with SC Zamalek

Ferjani Sassi has completed a move to SC Zamalek from Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr FC, putting pen to paper with the Egyptian giants on Thursday.

The defensive midfielder joins the White Knights on a three-year deal after representing Tunisia at the World Cup, according to a statement on the Zamalek website.

He began his career with CS Sfaxien in 2010 and represented Tunisia at the 2015 and 2017 African Cup of Nations tournaments.

The 26-year-old also moved to FC Metz in 2015, but didn't stay in France for long and returned to his homeland a year later with domestic heavyweights Esperance.

Sassi started all three of the Carthage Eagles' matches in Russia, equalising from the penalty spot in their opening 2-1 defeat by England.

Tunisia were eliminated with three points after falling to Belgium and then defeating Panama for their first World Cup victory since 1978.

Swiss coach Christian Gross signed a two-year deal with Zamalek in April, and won the Egyptian Cup a month later.
