Chicago Fire defender Johan Kappelhof suffered minor injuries following a car crash on Thursday.
Kappelhof was on his way to training when his car and another were hit by a box truck, and two people in the truck initially fled the scene before being later apprehended, NBC Chicago reported.
The former Netherlands youth international was taken to a hospital reportedly in good condition, and the Fire confirmed the defender did not suffer any serious injuries and has since been released.
The Dutch defender, 27, has made 16 appearances in league play to date this season. All told, in his three seasons with Chicago, Kappelhof has made 82 appearances in the MLS regular season, as well as one in the playoffs.
